"For one who reads, there is no limit to the number of lives that may be lived, for fiction, biography and history offer an inexhaustible number of lives in many parts of the world, in all periods of time"
A biography is not simply a "report about some dead guy" as one student once put it. A biography is more like a tale- the sum total of a person's life and their impact
on humanity. Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote "There is properly no history; only biography."
If we do just that, view history as a combination of interconnected biographies rather than just studying, these lives become more relevant, or important. Observing history through the eyes of those who influenced it, gives us insight towards the forces that motivated them as well as their intent.
